Healthier Lunches Include Bottled Water
Posted on Nov 26, 2011 by Jennifer Wilkes
In a recent article posted in Time Magazine, it was reported that one third of all American children are either overweight or obese, and that they received 40% of their daily calories from their school lunch. In an effort to improve these numbers the USDA made recommended changes, but many of the important changes were blocked by Congress.
While proposals included limiting everything from starchy vegetables to limiting the amount of tomato paste found on pizza, the article went on to further discuss the ill effects of sugar drinks and sodas.
Of course, this is the part that most intrigued us at Fontis, as we know the importance of drinking enough water.
There is such an advantage to drinking water over soft drinks and beverages high in sugar, it was even recommended that the adults in the school set a good example by also drinking healthier alternatives such as water!
So, is your little one off to school with a soft drink or sugared drink in his or her lunch, instead of a bottle of Fontis Mountain Spring Water? We recommend that you take a look at the article (link below) and find out ways to improve your child’s lunch, and then call us to establish your bottled water delivery.
